now using a mac

greetings everyone!

i was playing fl ages ago...
only proppt by to read some once in a while but never was a real member who had to tell anything to the community.

now my friends from times with fl and i would like to play again but i changed to mac i like it very much but with games there is just that blackhole that sucks all in!

i thought i saw a copy of fl for mac in a store just 1 1/2 years ago and wondered how they can charge the same price still.

was this a fatamorgana? or does fl really exist for mac? i am looking for it but no reseller has it...

if one of you knows anyone who has an original freelancer game for mac laying under layers of dust and wants to sell it: PLEASE send me a note!

i thought it might not be offtopic since i introduce myself as a oldtimegamer who wants to play it again... (just on a mac now)

i really enjoy to read that there are still people playing that blackpearl.

thanks in advance for every constructive suggestion about fl on mac.

It's made by microsoft so i doubt it.

I would suggest for you to Duel boot your system, I have a XP/98 system. Since all systems run on dos it should work. If you have a hard drive or disc that has Microsoft in it, all you will have to do is install it, otherwise you will have to buy a disc. If you need help I would suggest the hardware forum.

thank you very much for your suggestion.

microsoft also distributed "windows media player" and "msn-instant messenger" for MAC, so i hoped they also did it for such extremely good games like FL!

i do have a MAC with 10.3.9 (panther) OS on it. with 10.4 (tiger) there will be the possibility of having a virtualmachine (i allready thought about this and other VM's, but it's way to expensive) called "bootcamp" as a beta right now.

if the game never was coded for MAC it will just be the less expensive to buy a PC with minimum requirements for the game...

Boot camp. Intel-based macs can boot Windoze XP

Insert witty comment here

I dont think i am talking about "virtualmachine" lets get to the facts.

1 all PC's use DOS in start up (if this is not true about your PC Im stuf...)

2 If you duel boot your system you have the chose of which system you would like to run.

3 That is not starting Mac then running a simulated windows.

4 i know very very very very very little about Mac and there may be hardware issues.

thank you very much for the good ideas!

with the brand new MAC's you have X86 intelcore technology and will be able to do as you suggested.
that's also the generation which will have bootcamp (think about it like multiplebootability).

i do have an "older" MAC that is not able to do such fancy things so i guess i will just look out for a cheap PC that has all FL requires and play on this computer then!

the only thing that counts is to be ables to play FL with my friends again!

thank you all and perhaps see you ingame somewhere!

merry meet and merry part and merry meet again.
