Fatal error - may need some help

Bought the game yesterday. Installed it exactly as instructed but turning off every other running software including by mot limited to firewall and anti-virus.

When I try to start the game I get the same error:
<pre><font size=1 face=Courier>
Error RenderingSystem Init!

Now what? I'll admit my processor may be a little weak, but everything else is above minimum requirements as listed on the box. I've dialed down every possible option to the lowest including the hardware accelorator and sound set at the minimum. I've submitted the error to the company like a good consumer, we'll see what they reply with. My processor is 1.73 speed, just under minimum specks.

I may have no choice but to sell it to someone else on here very cheap because we all know the amount of hoops required to jump through when trying to return an item to a retail store.

Bummer too, I was so looking forward to playing this game.

Hmm strange, wait and see whats the devs say and they might also fix it in the up coming patch.

Support replied, not good news. My graphics card is inferior. Checked and no way to upgrade. Going to attempt another machine. Stand by.

That isn't uncommon on high gfx games. When I was helping out on the Elder Scrolls forums, there was at LEAST 50 the game won't start threads and DAY. No Joke. 99% of them were because the gfx card wasn't powerful enough.

So ALWAYS ALWAYS check the requirements. (MB on gfx cards mean nothing if it doesn't have the required shader tech.) So don't look at the number MB needed look at the shaders needed. (And if you don't see it on the box look at their website) And expecally the supported chipsets.

It's just the way things are today in PC gaming. New types of requirements are always going to happen.

Well, it loaded and seems to work on another computer with 1.43 processor. Course, I need to back things down to get any fps to speak of. Default fps was something like 7? Putrid, ****y, but it runs.

Oh well, at least I can play the game, albeit in a lesser mode. I can still upgrade the processor on that machine if I choose. Hmm. Once again software is pushing the hardware limit, just like the old days.
