questions on content..

I have 3 stories that I've been working on for a while now. I'm concerned that they may not all be entirely appropriate to TLR.

the first is (ostensibly) a sci-fi horror set in a future time that the Universe is dying of old age. the horror isn't gratuitous or graphic and there's no violence at all, but it's a very creepy, disturbing story.

the second is a rambling tale set over several centuries (present day to about 400 years from now) and universes where the main protagonist changes from male to female during the course of the story and there's a lot of adult-themed content, but again it isn't gratuitous or graphic (but in all fairness I couldn't really take a theme of gender ambiguity and not mention the obvious consequences of such a transformation.) Think of Virgina Woolf's "Orlando" and that's about as racy as it gets i.e. not very.

the third is a story about 3 domestic cats trying to survive in a climate-changed world without humans, and it's quite violent (but in the same way that Watership Down is red in tooth and claw.) And yes, they're based on my cats.

i read 'to sail beyond the sunset' when i was just a boy, and that book is basically about sex-changes in the future.... I don't see a problem with racy subjects myself, as long as it doesn't go into romance-novel territory with all the fixations on sinew and hair and cleaved buttocks lol

are we done with the word buxom yet?

at least post the cat-astrophe adventure story (oooh... sry couldnt resist the wordplay hehe) =)

I would recomend some discretion in the "change" area, but it could betried and see if it is close to an "R" rating.

I'll tidy them up a bit and send you them by electronic pony. No pinching my ideas though!

Ah! Mikey wouldn't do that, we would have to take away his new dsl connection.

Post em! Just put a lil warning if you think it's riské!

Never seen a "rating" on ANY book ever, so what's wrong?

I let Mrs Taw read 'em and she's suggested loads of changes, which, since she's a proper real writer wot publishes and all that, I thought would be worth doing. One story is ready to roll (-ish) which is No.1 on the list - I'm provisionally calling it "The Sounding of the Fifth Trumpet of the Angels" which is a biblical reference from the Book of Revelations for anyone who's inclined to ask.

No.2 is turning into a real whopper and needs a lot of condensing.

No.3 is being completely rewritten because of the addition of yet another cat as a main protagonist. And I naively thought that writing childrens' stories was easy...
