Guns

I was wondering how to do the following.

I need to have the weapon projectiles spawn from my models guns instead of the actual revolving guns (default in FL) I saw a starwars mod do that but I forgot the name. Does anyone know how to do that?

im geussing they are there, you just cant see the revolving guns becuase they may have had thier .mat files taken so they would appear invisible

i heard a story bout this...

a dude wanted to make a gun that fired out loads of missiles except he made the CMP WAY TOO SMALL and he like the new effect so he kept it...

nuff said bout these ppl...do what cheese on toast says ittl work

Mandingo from your post I'm takeing it you've built weapons into your ship model and you don't want the vanilla weapons mounted on the ends of them. Make a weapon entry in the ini's and use the "no_fighter_gun.cmp" for the model, this is a single poly model with 2 hardpoints and is what most people use in your situation.

Delete the .mat files for the weapons I mount. woulden't that affect the same weapons on another players ship?

Is the no_fighter_gun.cmp a default object in FL. Will the shots fire from my guns (IE on my ship). The projectile will spwan at the same location regardless or aim or will the projectile spawn at the nozzel of the "Invissible Weapon"

dude, make a seperate mat file for them etc, that way you specify what guns should be shown and what ones still have textures, and eys they will appear missing on on other players ships, but thats only if more than 1 gun uses the same mat file

The "no_fighter_gun.cmp" is the standard Nomad weapon model, it's a tiny almost invisible triangle with a HpConnect and HpFire. In your CMP you attach the HpWeapon hardpoints to the ends of the gun barrels, you then make a new weapon in the ini's and use the "no_fighter_gun.cmp" as the archetype for the gun. When this is mounted on your ship in game there is no weapon showing but the projectiles look like thier coming from your static weapons.

This is how most mods do it for ship models that come with inbuilt weapons, the X-wing as one example and most Star Trek ships as another, the X-wing would look stupid with a Justice Mk1 stuck on the end of it's built in gun barrel, visible or invisible.
