Freelancer Companion

Freelancer Companion is a new tool for traders and modders

For traders because it is an advanced traderoute calculator. (see features below)
For modders because it parses a lot of ini files and will display a list of errors encountered in your mods so you can fix them if you are the author

Features are :
- Display full trade routes including complete path (with jumps and trade lanes, even partially used) and exact time taken.
- Real-time calculation of best trade routes based on profit and route time.
- Shows Universe & Systems Maps (scrollable & zoomable), including precise trade route highlight
- Works with the Freelancer SDK (decompressed files) and mods, displaying potential errors found in game files.
- Speed and time settings are configurable to adapt your own navigation profile.
- Sort the display by commodities, bases, profit and time by clicking on the column header.
- Fully based on the game files, not using any precalculated table or information
- Displays map location for waypoints (+/- delta refers to the zoomed map lines).
- Errors found in mods are displayed in a log window (to help mods author).
- Program is small, fast & furious ;-)

if i activate a mod, will it show the info etc. for that mod too?

Freelancer Companion 1.6 is out !!

This version should be much more usable for all of you that had problems with mods

Don't hesitate to post if you're still experience any problem (specify the mods you're using)

I dont understand why you "flag" entries as errors when the commodity is set to certain levels or faction.

We dont have standard values, so players must be different levels to purchase certain commodities. Also, they need to have a certain faction standing to make the commodity available to them. However, in your prog they are listed as "Problems" because they are not standard entries.

Good tool, but you need to address this.

maybe my understanding of the commodities parameters is not correct
can you redirect me to a file or post that describe those precisely ?
(i couldn't find good detailed info on them)

well its working for me now, but i can't select systems possibly because the error-finding window keeps popping up

Cold_void.. tell me the mods you're using ?
(the error log window shouldn't prevent you from selecting bases from the drop-down list)

I've fix the incorrect notification of error on normal MarketGood entries in the next version of FLCompanion

that was with Excelcia RPG mod 2.23 activated

works fine with the SDK

doesn't work at all with my own mod however, it won't even start

This is a great tool, thank you.

I hate it, but I have to post it anyways: a possible improvement.

Looks like the program doesn't care if a jumphole or gate is locked or not. It always assumes it's open. For example the direct jump between Sigma-13 and New Berlin doesn't exist in unmodded multiplayer.

An option for folks who don't have the path information to the Freelancer directory in their registry would be nice, so they could manually point the Freelancer Companion to the FL installation. Losing this piece of info from the registry happens by reinstalling windows but keeping the FL installation.
