Great work Cpt.Kazo. You may have just solved a major dock issue. I will implement this step after testing for practicality.

Oh yes and if it does work, i'll probably limit docking it to cap ship capable docks. It'll be impossible to play sp with it but it should be so much more fun in MP as well as balance the game if owners of these ships can only go where real cap ships can and not everywhere.

I've tested the docking system and am now expanding it to cover all stations. You'll still have to use the docking rings for planetary landings though. Hmm maybe i can fix that by making the mooring fixture useable but thats just theory. Post me your ideas.

Nice mod. I got 2 questions.
1. Anyone know why my save won't load? I already deleted the battleship mod form the ini files.
2. Do you still need someone to test the abilty to dock with cap ships? LIke fighters with cap ships

How to make CapShips dockable to the mooring fixtures on planets:

Open 'solararch.ini' in /DATA/SOLAR and search for 'docking_fixture'.

Change:
docking_sphere = moor_medium, HpDockMountA, 5.000000
To:
docking_sphere = berth, HpDockMountA, 150.000000

...now the top moor of each fixture is dockable

This is even better than with the shipyards, because you can select such a fixture and sy 'dock' and it will dock there.
BUT!...when launching from the planet, the game will still use the docking ring...so no chance to dock with the Rheinland BS because it will not be able to launch again!

no wander has figured out how to have fighters dock with cap ships. He said he needed someone to test it so i was wondering that if still needs someone.

Wanderer, is it possible to dock with stations, when I try the battleship just runs into the station but doesn't dock.

CptKazo. Your work may make it possible for ALL cap ships including the Rhineland battleship to dock with stations with minimal problems. Docking with planets will be impossible for the Rhineland battleship of course but maybe, just maybe i could fix it to allow you to leave through the docking fixture. I've made a liberty dreadnaught to test it out and it works. I will post a tutorial for it including your docking work in about 12 hours. This one will have beam weapons, railguns and missile turrets. Hope you all enjoy it.

Oh yes and about docking to cap ships, i've recieved word from the other testers, I'm very close but i'm missing something to make it workable. Sorry for the dissapointment.

I appreciate all the wonderful work you've done, Wanderer, but I'm having some serious trouble running FL after attempting the mod. It crashes while loading up the game.

Ive already reinstalled the game, and i'm getting quite worried. If I could get any help with this, it would be appreciated.
Ive also deleted my save games in my documents/my games

It's possible that you might have made a mistake somewhere but i'm releasing a new and improved battleship tutorial later, why don't you wait for that one and compare notes? It might make things easier. At worst i can send you the files.

Did anyone fix the battleship sound problem? It might be minor, but it sure is very annoying that the battleship makes my game mute whenever I use it.

I tried cranking up the sound values up to 400 and it still won't work...

Done! The new tutorial is out and the battleship carries beam, missile and railgun weapons. The mooring fix is also done. Use and enjoy.

If any one wants, i can give you my docking ring. It basically makes it not there, cant see it, or touch it, but its used for docking to a planet. Also i changed the ring placement so you can take off from a planet in the rh_battleship without getting caught in the planet atmosphere. But to do that, it takes some work, because you have to change all the planets docking ring placements.

Forgive me if someone already brought this up, but...
I found an interesting bug, I think, when playing around with the battleship(cheap) mod. I was cruising around, and then I decided to dock at a trade lane. Well, while I waited the 5 years for it to align itself *sigh* a group of rouges came by - no problems However, I looked back at the gate and it said Trade Lane Dissruppeted. Then I noticed that the missles that I fired during the fight from the turrets had ben sucked towards the gate and were doing figure-8s between the two lanes (the in and out bound traffic gates). After a while, the missles exploded, and the lane recovered... but I found it odd...

I think I have it so that the picture will show below... Sorry that the picture is so large - I just reformated my computer to rid it of several problems I didn't want to take care of individually

Ever since I first saw the demo (and played it through 4 times before i got the full game.. which was only about three days later.. hehe.. yes I was kinda late coming onto the scene I guess but better late than never ) I was hoping that you (the player) would be able to fly big ships like the cruisers and the battleships. As I played through the game I began to realise that it was very unlikely that you would be able to do so. So, naturally, rather than accepting that, I decided to see what was to be done about it. Make a long story short, I eventually found this editting forum.. Wanderer I am in your debt man
Anyway, this isn't the reason I am posting this, the reason is actually this:
You were saying above the the "Battleship Flipping" problem was solved by setting the nudge_force to 25 billion or so. I did this with the osiris, however, it doesn't help.. it still flips over when things hit me. Any ideas why..?

Also, as for the last post about the missiles doing figure 8s, I think that must be because the trade ring has it's center right in between the eight little corner thingies (4 for the top and 4 for the bottom), which is open space; so the missiles aim for the center of the object, and hit empty space, then turn and try again.. hitting empty space again. That's my theory anyway, since the selection rectangle is based right in the middle
