Bugs With Adding Missions to a New System

I am creating a new system for an upcoming mod. With help from all of the great tutorials here at Lancer's Reactor, I have been able to figure out almost everything needed to add new sytems, bases, and missions. And I thank everyone that has contributed to the forums here. There are a lot of the great tuts and hints out there...you just gotta look.

Here comes my problem. I have 6 bases. I have edited the mbases.ini for new factions and characters and adding missions. I have been able to add new rumors, characters, rooms, etc. At one base, missions from the mission bulletin board work fine, but at the rest of the bases the mission board says "Too many players are accessing the mission board. Please come back later."

Missions offered by characters work fine.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Okay - a few extra things about this file.
The Mbases.ini file is very very pissy, in fact, if you are using one of liberties existing bases and the missions aren't working, then the chances are every base AFTER that base won't be working either.

Simple things like errors in the base number (ie putting Li01_08_base instead of the one you mean, or even leaving the old base number in it when no longer there) will cause missions and bar people NOT to appear. Other things that might cause it are, well from yours

offers_missions = 0 <---please tell me why that is there for your base faction.

Do you see NPC people inside the bar (apart from the barman), are they there? Do they offer things as well?

You might have got rid of a storyline character as well - which means it might get pissy with you too. Make sure all NPC names are correct and tie into the ones at the top (ie base faction part).

It doesn't matter WHAT the npcs are actually called there - as long as the ids name is correct, then you don't have to call them the faction in the nickname - that makes no difference.
so nickname = bob will work as long as
npc = bob for one part.

Now - when editing NY stuff you really have to be careful as alot of it is involved in the story etc.
However, try the mission = 0 part first. Also - its a great way of finding out which entry is b******** up by going to other bases and checking them. That way you find out at which point in the mbases.ini file the problem is. Check the 9th base in the system - or the junkers (13th) - does everything work there? Then if it doesn't you comment out the base for li01_08 and then check again - anyone there now? If so, you find what is causing the problem quicker. This helps if you do lots before checking.

p.s - just re -read your prob - also add a stack of mission vignettes into your system as well near your base or whatever. Make them customised so that you don't get them identical to your system. - so you put in somethign like this:

Ths is the 22 destroy vignette in my system - make some for yours as well. whack em all over the darned place too. that just makes sure

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Kind of hectic at work.

I have vig zones. I have characters in the bases. They offer you rumors, bribes and missions. But the mission board doesn't work. I am trying a couple different things to fix it.

Has anyone ever seen the error message? "Too many players are accessing the mission board at this time. Come back later."

After a playing with the mbases file. Now it says "No mission available at this time" OR "Too many players are accessing the mission board at this time. Come back later."

Sounds very very much like the first problem i mentioned - the Mbases.ini file is corrupted. It is this part:

Now - how can i be so certain? Cause your other missions are working out fine. You can take missions from the people in the bar, and also see them all - so it means that somewhere you cannot get missions on the board. Well - this part is what is on offer on the missions board. This is for Liberty navy offering missions on the board.
If it was like this one:

The its for Someone else - (whomever ME are - mining or something).
Anyways - this controls what is on the boards.

This part of the file controls what you are given by NPC's in the bar:

righthand = benchmark_female_hand_right

So obviously your NPC missions are fine as they work - so its board missions. The fact you can take missions from NPC's means that Vignettes are fine etc. Bascilaly you haven't got a fixed Mbases.ini file. Here is what to do

Set aside a good hour and a half.


Scroll through looking for things like this:
[BaseFaction
faction = li_n_grp
weight = 13
offers_missions = mission_type = DestroyMission, 0.000000, 0.112387, 30
npc = li0101_lnavy_001_f
npc = li0101_lnavy_002_m
npc = li0101_lnavy_003_f

And change the highlighted line to this:
[BaseFaction
faction = li_n_grp
weight = 13
offers_missions = true
mission_type = DestroyMission, 0.000000, 0.112387, 30

npc = li0101_lnavy_001_f
npc = li0101_lnavy_002_m
npc = li0101_lnavy_003_f

Basically put the word TRUE in after offers_missions - then hit enter.

By the way, i just found three entries of mine that are still corrupted from way back when i fixed them. Been two or three months and only just noticed a few that slipped by me - see, even to the more experienced of us this happens!
