Saeth the Great Chimaera

Indeed, the only dirt in there is tracked in by guest sand

I'll be having some of that "guest sand" please, Wabbit!

Defending wicked barbs from front and side,
the rabbit king commands from his burrow hide.
The forum turned and gnashed and swayed,
and came to only the mullah's aid.

Poor old Esquilax took the brunt and blows,
but stood fast in his austere home below.
With stunning fixtures, fittings and antique chairs
built with loving care and loads of IndyCorp shares.

There is a bar stocked full of ginger beer,
and a tired old computer with some peripheral gear.
A desk made from Tawakalnian skulls and bones,
with lots of buttons to command exploding bunny drones.

Oh yes boys, don't fall for the propaganda,
The lair even has a lovely underground veranda.
It's been featured in many home, garden and designer mags,
and got a special on the lifestyle channel by those designer fags.

So don't be swayed by the dirty old man,
his palace is nothing more than a nasty sham.
A shack built with stray bits of sheet iron and wood,
it should really be demolished for the common good.

In tortured wit and scheme of rhyme extolling the vices of the Lapin King
Describing plotful pluck of plans unstuck and hubris run amok but wearying
Did strive the Grunting High Llama of that Mustantopian Realm, Mustang
To gild the presumptuous hare who affects to be Valerie Giscard d'Estaing.

Meritless and feckless the floppy eared one would doubtless be
But for the strained strivings of the lesser cousin of the dromedary
No Rabbit's foot or harey ear in witness to the Llama's tale is lifted
No praise or thanks or tribute to the Emperor's travail is gifted.

Silence, save the distant sound of scrabblings in the bowels of the earth
As the Lapinacreous One of gaseous malodorousness gives birth
As many now must leave those antipodean parts
And escape from the God-King's incommodious ...

Poetry, eh? Well, I suppose I *could* dust off my quill, but I'm pretty rusty. Still... *Ahem*

Despite the sabre-rattling present here,
The Rabbit-King stands, devoid of fear,
With support from rabbits and llamas bold,
The Rabbit-King crafts his verses gold.

This thread has passed two years of age,
So behooves the King to be quite sage,
It is no secret, the Chimaera's history,
But to others it proves to be quite a mystery.

He first appeared in 2003,
Stepping off a barge onto TLR's quay,
At first a nobody, not a friend in sight,
Until he was conscripted late one night.

Against Mustang and Mustantopia he fought,
With the PDRNS, but his loyalty was naught,
Eventually betrayed by his military superior,
A man scraggly-bearded and morally inferior.

Time passed and Tawakalnistan was created,
A dingy wasteland, quite overrated,
Its ideology applauding a rabbit's demise,
With cute bunnies cooked and made into pies.

In order to make a long story short,
At this time a great war was fought,
Tremendous rabbit victories against Taw all told,
With lapin brethren returning to the fold.

Esquilaxistan was happy and free for some time,
But then the Mullah emerged from the slime,
Tawakalnistan was taken back from the rabbits,
And the Mullah began again his evil habits.

It was around this time that "Tors" appeared,
A shady character who mysteriously premiered,
This lead to the creation of this very thread,
A topic that continues to rear its great head.

"1600 posts of spam!" some said with dismay,
Distasteful of the thread's sweet-smelling bouquet,
The thread still continues despite such negativity,
These attitudes not affecting the thread's creativity.

The thread continued with anti-rabbit abuse,
Petty insults that proved the posters obtuse,
The Rabbit-King fought back with mediocre ferocity,
His post-count climbing with increasing velocity.

Insults flew and "Grammar Nazi!" came the cries,
But again the these insults were scurrilous lies,
Posters jealous of the Chimaera's obsessions,
And secretly fearful of their English transgressions.

Despite his contribution over many years,
To this day the Rabbit-King receives few cheers,
Some have indicated that he is actually abhorred,
But the Chimaera knows that he is really adored.

Despite abuse hurled at his furry paws,
The Rabbit-King hears naught but applause,
Your affection to the Chimaera is quite clear,
And in response he offers you fine Ginger Beer.

And who could blame you, one must ask,
For in his presence you choose to bask,
Accepting your adoration from on high,
On his throne the Chimaera you may spy.

The King's arrogance is surely a failing,
But it is surely better than Indy's wailing,
The King finds self-promotion to be quite specious,
So to amuse himself, his posts are facetious.

So mock the Rabbit-King if you really must,
But ask yourself if your crusade is truly just,
"We must fight his evil ways!" your posts purport,
But it is your failing self-confidence you surely support.

There is no proof of your false allegations,
Despite your best propagandist creations,
So plan your false war and its lofty goals,
And may your gods have mercy on your souls!

Hmm. Average, especially the last two lines and definitely not up to my usual standards, but then I *am* at work... Bah, I just need more practice.

Taw - It's this damn, cheap HP keyboard at work. The "SHIFT" key doesn't work properly either . Anyway, you have more than enough sand. Petty Mullah, very petty.

Indy - I'll "poem-whip" you tomorrow... time-permitting.

Nice Esq, that one had a very nice rhythm.
I quite liked mine before, now it looks like crap.

Thanks Musty . It needs a little work though, but topical poetry is tricky because the subject matter only allows for so much creativity.

As for your effort, I liked it, despite the fact that it implies that I consort with "IndyCorp", and adds a Tawakalnic air of menace to my benevolent visage .

Oh bloody hell off we're goin'
With yer stanzas, verse and rhyme.
I thought you had yer fill poem
When we did this the last time?

Still the Mullet's in his Harem and the bunny in his hole
And they keep it up, both quite happy playing out their roles.
Of course you know without a comma or shrewd punctuation
It did not escape me in the least that reads a lewd situation.

Indy's in Noo Dworkia sleeping with his Dollers
While Musty's in the tailor's getting fitted for flea collars.
Now meezo the pretender is chruning out the crap
And Druid's in the drinking house underneath the taps.

So here we are two years later, after my arrival
Churning out the couplets with no topic quite a rival.
Profiteers and bunny soldiers, mullahs and their whores
All because of some daft git that goes by the name of "Tors".

oh look, Eskwilurx and Muskrat poems! let's see if I can imitate their "distinctive" style..

"Taw is very bad
He makes me very sad
What's he do to you?
He makes me want to pooh"

if you really wanted to impress me, insult me in binary; but make it rhyme

Meh, poetry schmoetry!

if you really wanted to impress me, insult me in binary; but make it rhyme

Zip it up Taw, your nerd is showing.

Maybe its time to dig up the sand pile and the rabbit burrow and start new, ehh?

*Placing an order for contruction equipment and having it sent to Aus and GB*

I see that the old man's poetic abilities have not improved with age. Why, that "poem" (if it can so be called) is even worse than his last opus:

My name is Esquilax and I'm the king,
I'm good at rhyming ding-a-ling-a-ling
My poems are the very best
and Mustang's got a hairy chest.

*Shakes head* And he has the temerity to mock our poetic might! Pah!

Final - What are you about *this* time?

EDIT: Not bad "Tors", but I'd have thought that Swiss would have been more supportive, because he likes poetry too .

*takes a bow* "Thankee my fine furried foe".

As for Swiss, I gave up on that lush a long time back. He changes sides with the breeze and always backs the loosers.

Post Wed Oct 24, 2007 4:00 pm

Indeed. Damn those, um "loosers"! In addition, you'll notice that the Old Man hasn't responded yet, no doubt because he has lost the power of (metaphorical) speech due to the cutting riposte in my previous post .

no, cos he's away working and hasn't got the time! I am in fookin' Scotland on a ropey 3G connection that keeps dropping down to 2G.
