Problems with Internet

I've got some problems with my Internet connection. When computer has been on few minutes, Internet Explorer can't find pages anymore. After reboot it works again but only few minutes.

I could almost swear that connection goes out. This is not the case though: pings go through (example: command ping www.google.com ) and back without lost packets. Also downloads come through without interrupts and mIRC don't lose connection to IRC servers. I thought problem has to be with IE and I spent 2 available minutes to download Firefox. Don't work any better.

As summary I can tell that during few first minutes creating connections work as they should. But then my Internet software don't seem to get anywhere. WWW browsers don't find pages, mIRC complains something about buffers and Ad-Aware can't check patches. Existing contacts don't break, so I can use mIRC on servers where I have got connect during first few minutes and downloads come through. I share Internet connection and price with 2 roommates. They don't have problems and neither does my old PC.

OS is finnish Windows XP Home Edition with SP2. I have turned off Windows Firewall but it don't have effect. I type this with my old PC. This is screenshot of the Task Manager immediately after Windows has loaded. Is there anything what should not be there?

Well for one thing, you've got a worm on your computer plus some adware.

mediaaccess.exe and MediaAccK.exe is the adware. Download this and scan your ocmputer to remove them.

Next, either update your antivirus software definitions (i see you have an antivirus somftware installed) or use seomthign else like AVG (free) because yours just isnt working. Both winsystem.exe processes are worms (or if you like, viruses).

Kill em and see if your internet goes back on.

Use another person's computer to download those apps for you if you cant.

OH, and also check your computer by doing a file search or something for the file "services.exe" because if you find that file in any other folder OTHER than the C:\windows\system32 folder then it is also a virus. In other words, if you see it in system32, you're safe from that. If you see it elsewhere, make sure to run the virus scan for it.

You can also use a program called stinger that will search for any worm and remove them
