install either the FL SDK or Quickfix patches to freelancer. you can get them at the EOA Consortium's site

You can find the Freelancer QuickFix version 1.0c here.

And if you're making a Mod you can find the latest version of the SDK - Freelancer SDK version 1.3b-sdk_20070313 here.

well thanks ill check it out would it change any of the settings of the computer?
we just got a new computer so i wanna make sure i dont stuff it up by downloading something i dident need.

The Quickfix will not change or add to any other files except for the Freelancer files.
So the answer to your question would be no, it will not harm your computer in any way.

Also if you have used any Mod's or change Mod's you will probably have to delete your Freelancer folder then reinstall Freelancer and then install the Quickfix.
And move or delete any saved games because they will cause problems too.

The Freelancer folder is located at
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer

Your saved game files are located at
My Documents\My Games\Freelancer
Both the Singleplayer and Multiplayer folders.

it still comes up with the error message. and it also said some files culdnot be installed properly. can it have some thing to do with vista? thats our opperating system.

I'm willing to bet it's Vista. Vista doesn't work well with freelancer. And FLMM wasn't designed for Vista. So you'll have to install mods by hand. And i IIRC you can't use MP in FL if you use Vista.

I had to do a system restor to three days earlier. When I tried to de-activate fresh start mod it gave me the "it wont properly de-activate" message. I have since re-installed freelancer and it still does the same thing. Apparently the mod manager is looking for a file the no longer exists and I dunno how to fix the issue. I have also tried to re-install FLMM and it comes bacjk with the same mods active(also which I cannot turn off). PLEASE HELP ME! What am I doing wrong?

Open tools in FLMM and click "Restore Backups" to get rid of the mod. Works better than uninstalling a mod. But as BP said, to be clean of any problems, unistall and delete the folder then reinstall.

I restored my backups and re-installed everything fresh including the game and FLMM. Now i'm having an issue joining multiplayer servers. I get a message that states either the server is down or im having internet issues. Neither of which is a correct statement. It doesn't matter what server I try to join it just will not let me join it. Meanwhile I can play single player all I want. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
