In Multiplayer is there PvP? Are there Clans and how many still play this game because I just bought it and love it.

Freelancer is still very active in Multiplayer, there are enough stable servers with amazing mods and original Freelancer 1.0 of course.
Many clans and couple of Leagues.
Big unofficial addons are also in development.

What is the most popular game right now (e.g. regular freelancer or favorite mod.) And where can I download it?

theres a lot of mods out there i run the epsilon 3.11 mod a real fun looks like silvaks tie universe i cant play it though.

You can find it out yourself if you take a look at the Global Server List and the player amount.
