Can I make a suggestion?

The forums looks like donkey dung. 35 different forums?

example....

Terra Empire Mod = mo posts in over 5 months
The Intergalactic Glock Development Team = no posts in 2 months
Babylon 5 Mod = no posts in 3 months

Some of these forums are split but it makes sense (at least to me) some could easily be combined. I have a hard enough time reading all the different forums let alone moderate them. I've truly never felt like I was fighting a more uphill battel than I am today. It's even a little depressing. I realize people have their own forums and they like to see their names in lights...but this is WAY outta control folks. To me this looks like one huge mess.

Unfortunatly Stinger, you'll probably be getting a flock of newbies coming in here shortly and flaming you, their accusation that you hate their individual mod forums. Of course, you're a mod, so you have power over them, but .....

However, I agree. There are simply to many forums then are nessacery, and I honestly don't know who half the mod forums are for. Meh, kind of reminds me of the new forums ....

i think the fanfic forum is good and should stay but... the indvidul mod forums... i considered posting there once the then i soon relaized that nothing would happen. howbout we combine all the mod 'temas' into one mod team forum and each team could have a stickied thread

There *are* a lot of forums, but I'm sure that Bargib had a good reason. Actually, the modders kept spamming his email account until he capitulated and gave them all their own forums

I agree with Mr Lordier. it needs reorganising. every FL mod does not need it's own forum, a select few of the biggest and most popular should, but the rest can all be lumped together.

same goes for all those dam fanfic threads, they can all be thrown into one.

a straightforward hierarchical structure is whats required, with the minmum necessary on the front end allowing you to go deeper to what you wnat. there's too much stuff up front.

By Gawd, I agree! I came back and couldn't figure out what the heck was going on with all these separate forums. It was overwhelming. I remember we used to only have about 3 - 4 forums that anyone actually posted in. Not trying to be mean, but shouldn't these mod forums be kept someplace else? Like in their own website or at least on a separate section from the main page? Stinger, a very good suggestion, I second it wholeheartedly. And another thing, there are too many stickies!!! I understand the purpose and that they contain some very useful information but when you have 5-10 stickies in each forum it makes the "active topics" button rather useless. Perhaps you could move these items to a separate FAQ?

Merc for hire...but only if you can afford it.

I don't necessarily think that the separate MOD forums should be combined. However Major Striker did propose somethig useful. Instead of having all the forums on the same page, put the MOD forums (and perhaps other categories too) somewhere else and link to it.

@Tawakalna: One huge consolidated fanfic thread? Are you crazy? Some of those stories are hard enough to follow as it is. The last thing they need is to all be lumped together. Though I do agree that there is way too much stuff "up front."

not crazy, just didn't think about what i was saying. A separate forum just for fanfic, then they can put all the want in there. that's what I meant. clear em all out of the other forums inc OT

Well, they've taken the first step, now it's just a matter of enforcing that stories are only posted in the proper place and moving all the rest. I don't know exactly what that entails though, it may be a lot of work.

A feed back from someone who likes to write. I like posting the story in OT while it is still in progress as I can get a wider range of feed back rather than in a story only area as fewer people seem to go to that one. I don't mind it being moved once complete, as it is more of an archive then. If all stories were lumped together, I would probally stop posting any stories as the fanfic one has become too jumbled with non-stories, ie. RPG ones that are too mixed up to even try to follow. It would be a disapointment at that point.

There were allot more requests to make the new forums then there will be to remove any...
It makes it much easier to find what you want and we definately needed a couple of new ones, especially the Clan and Help Wanted Forums.

Finalday as much time as you spend in the Forums I think you should be a Moderator so you can help out with sorting things out. I'll see what we can do...
