Download Area

The download area is getting way too big and unwieldy. (but keep it all! )
It's hard as hell to find things. Can you please split the area into sub-areas
based on the category? Then you could sort all, lets say addons, by date, size, etc.

There are 7 threads in the last 30 days that deal with the Download section. I may be out of line in my assumption, but it seems to be an important issue ...

IMHO, perhaps adding your voice to an existing thread would have been better than creating another one.

Bargib knows that this site needs a lot of improvements - but there are realities to confront. The change might not be so good for the server or bandwith or loading speed or whatever. And I know that Bargib rarely has free time to tinker with TLR right now - it started as a personal project, and it will be put aside when real-life situations force him to reassess his priorities. So please be patient, it may happen tomorrow, may never happen at all.

Thank you for listening and understanding.

Hehe. My only "problem" with the download section is that Bargid doesn't remove the OLD version of a mod. There are atleast 4 maybe 5 versions of TNG and they're already at a newer version. Deleting the obsolete files will cause:

1: No bug reports from ancient and forgotten versions
2: Cleaner download section
3: Everyone will always download the latest version of a mod
4: Less server space used
5: Possibly faster downloads
6: Happy people :-D

NO! NO! DON"T remove old versions and files, move them off to an archive!

New NOT=better all the time. Here's a useful site:

Without stating the obvious....

I am a dedicated SP player. I have a fairly good "beast" to run this (and other) games on which will never be connected to the internet (don't ask, I have my reasons).

With that being said, MP mods are pretty much out of the question. Not knocking them, just not for me. I would almost bet there may be a couple of other SP users who are not too keen on MP either.

Some of the newer mods look and sound really hot, though on downloading, installing, and attempting to run - finding out they are MP only mods.

You may want to have all mod announcements and patches start out by listing their particular focus right up front:

SP only
SP/MP
MP only

It would make less of a pull on your bandwidth by unnecessary downloads and those who need specifics can get them without trial and error.

Just an idea. :-)

In the meantime TLR rocks!

Keep up the fantastic funfilled fabulous freelancer family fuming!
